Gaylord Barr was a teacher trainer in Galang Refugee Camp, Site I, from 1980 to January, 1982. He took these photos during that period.
All of the refugees pictured here went on to settle around the world. Now the forest has retaken the site, and the camp lives on only in old photos and in the memories of the people who once lived there.

We were at Galang from May to Nov. 1981.
ReplyDeleteHow are you, Gaylor? We always miss you and Debra and the nice time on Galang island. We remembered you, the gentle persons who gave us "the Pagoda food" on the beach camp. You are the image of the generous American who offer to the survivals the opportunities to resettle on this beautiful country. Many Thanks and hope that we can see you soon
* Mr Hung Nguyen, How can we contact Gaylor?
